Tour of the Cornfields
Event website: Tour of the Cornfields
Summary: The original and super popular Tour of the Cornfields returns for 2017. The event is organised by the team that runs London’s Beastway series and cyclo-cross races for LVYCC in the Eastern Cyclo-Cross League. Suitable for gravel, cyclo-cross, MTB, hybrid, and sturdy road bikes, this is a 100km off-road and on-road route around the beautiful South Cambridgeshire, Huntingdon, and Bedfordshire countryside.
Now with a higher proportion of the route off-road, the 2017 version ranges more widely on byways and bridleways to take in even more countryside between Cambridge, Royston, and Biggleswade. Online routes for previous editions are all out of date. Entrants will receive route info on the eve of the event.
Starting and finishing in the National Trust’s Wimpole Estate this is an excellent end of road season or beginning of cyclo-cross season event and it’s as relaxed as you want to make it. There’s a lovely refreshment stop at half-way plus kiosks, cafes, and restaurants abound at Wimpole Hall where there is ample safe dedicated parking.
Many riders choose to bring the whole family as Wimpole is a great place to stay and play all day while riders do their thing.
Fees: £24 online or £30 on the day
